I think it's pretty obviously staged. All those people he interacted with, hugging and emoting, immediately go back to ignoring him when he moves on. Not quite what I'd expect from that many people. Someone should have been bothered, someone should have been staring for the rest of the dance. It just doesn't ring true.

But it's still quite a performance.
